There have been so many false starts and delays. Some due to Covid-19, some due to shipping problems but all of them have been totally exasperating. Three flights cancelled, three hotel stays cancelled, money lost, more money paid in mooring fees, quarantine completed, and so on.
Saying 'goodbye' to Hamble Point Marina
Passing the Rising Sun and Warsash College
The lift has begun and we're out of the water
Time to get off the boat!
Sunset and boat rise
Almost there
The MV Keith next door to the Queen Mary 2
The MV Keith in the process of loading the boat just before us
The MV Keith in the process of loading the boat just before us
An unusual place to park a boat.
A happy skipper
Sunset towards the New Forest
It looks so lightweight!
Turned around a moving aboard
Sea Dweller's stern
The skipper is keeping out of the way.
This is the tunnel beneath the crane; the best place
to be if you don't have a hard had.
We're now ashore and have left them to it
If they make a mistake, we might get this boat.
THE NEXT DAY (15 October 2020)
Just to make sure that we hadn't imagined it all, we went to Hamble Point to watch
Sea Dweller leave Southampton on the MV Keith. Here she goes, passing
the tower at Fawley power station.
And, finally, we can track her.
